Charity Aremu is a professor of Genetics and Plant Breeding at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria. Her university education started in the Premier University Ivory Tower – the University of Ibadan where she obtained first and second degrees (B.sc and M.sc) in Crop Science with specialization in crop improvement option in the then Department of Agricultural Biology now Department of Crop and Environmental Biology. At the University of Ibadan, she had two (2) awards- Shell Bp and Raymond Zard award as the best graduating student for the year 1992. In 2013, she had an award from National Institute of Management, Federal Ministry of Youth and Social Development for a paper presentation on “Evoking the use of Underutilized Crops for human nutritional benefits and Soil amelioration target” and another in 2015, on “Training and Leadership skill for growing academia”. In 2019, she earned a certificate in developing and growing horticultural crops from Willow farms California, USA. Her current research interest is on developing underutilized crops for nutritional food enhancement. She has published over 45 publications in high impact journals.
